Trustwood Forests (NZ) Limited
is a forestry development, management and consultancy company
specializing in the acquisition and development of land for the
establishment of forests on the East Coast region of New Zealand.
Trustwood was incorporated in 1993, by Robert Hill, George Bogiatto to
promote and establish forestry projects on behalf of individual clients,
including a public company prospectus for the acquisition and logging of
mature woodlots. Since incorporation the company has acquired over
16,000 acres of forestry land of which over 14,000 acres has been
planted in radiata pine. In addition to its own forestry holdings
Trustwood undertakes the management, establishment and supervision of
planted forests for a number of trusts as well as individual clients.
The company has the capability and the resources to carry out the
following types of assignment:
Establishment and Management of Plantation
Forests: Planning, programming, prescribing, supervising,
quality control and reporting.
Harvesting Marketing:
Covering logging planning and logging contracts, log grading and
marketing, log pricing and sale contracts, log measurement systems,
information and account systems, transport and including the marketing
of uncommon hardwood or softwood species.
Inventory of Forests:
This can
cover the full range of tasks, ie. aerial photography, mapping, crop
typing, inventory design development of volume and taper functions (in
association with NZ Forest Research Institute) and volumetric sampling
on the ground and using photo interpretation and photogrammetry.
Yield Forecasting: Preparing
forecasts of future log production for an existing or new industry based
on inventory and growth data supplied or collected specially for the
project.
Cash Flow Modelling and Project Evaluation:
This will be based on inventory and yield forecasting and subsequently
costing forest management, harvesting and log transport and valuing
returns from log marketing.

Operational Planning:
Setting
out schedules of operations and defining and prescribing techniques for
forestry, agroforestry and indigenous management projects.
Forest Valuation: For an asset
sale or for accounting purposes.
Information and Reporting Systems:
Designing and implementation of mapping
and other record systems for forest managements.
Pruned Stand Certification:
The company has two registered
auditors able to carry out Pruned Stand Certification under the Forest
Research Institute P.S.C. Service.
Environmental Impact Studies:
Covering land use and infrastructural development associated with
plantation management and operations in indigenous forest.
The principals of the company have a wide range of technical, management
and legal experience in both large scale plantation forestry and in
small scale operations involving woodlot, shelter belt and native forest
management.
The Directors
Robert J. Hill (MNZIF) is an experienced forest manager.
Robert entered the forest industry in 1979 and worked in the development of new plantations for a number of regional forest
development schemes in Perthshire and the Scottish Highlands, before emigrating to New Zealand in
1987. Robert is familiar with all aspects of forest planning and
establishment and has been responsible for setting up a number of field
studies including the development of over 8000 hectares of forestry land
on behalf of Trustwood Forests (NZ) Limited and individual clients.
Robert has experience with the Resource Management Act and has been
directly involved in nature conservancy, sites of archaeological significance, liaisons with local council, conservation departments and
the Ministry of Forestry.
Robert currently fulfills a role in strategic development for the
company, which includes project evaluation and acquisition. He has
acquired specialist knowledge of the East Cape region of New Zealand and
is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Forestry.

George Bogiatto
LLB, an Auckland
Barrister and Solicitor, formerly a senior partner with the law firm
Grove Darlow and now with his own practice, has been actively involved
in specialist forestry advice.
George has created a number of Forestry Rights under the Forestry Right
Registration Act and he is well versed with all aspects of forestry
contracts, forestry fire insurance, public liability, local government
and the Resource Management Act. George undertakes all legal work for
the company.

Personnel
Dave
Elliott B.Sc(NZ) Dip.For (Canberra) N.Z.I.F., was
Conservator of Forests Rotorua and subsequently Regional Manager,
Central Region of NZ Timberlands Limited, before setting up as an
independent consultant. In addition to his experience in forestry
administration and management he has specialist knowledge of forest
mensuration, modeling, planning and valuation, based on involvement in
the development of computer systems and in their practical application
in large-scale plantation management when he was Principal Forester at
Kaingaroa Forest and in planning at a national level when he was
Director of Planning with the Forest Service.
Dave has also been involved in the developments of techniques for
harvesting and silviculture in indigenous forests. As a consultant he
has been involved in project evaluation, forest inventory and valuation
and in the production of management plans and indicative development
plans.
Dave is recognized by the New Zealand Institute of Forestry as a General
Forestry Consultant.

Garry
Townley B.For.Sc, NZIF, is a professional forester who
graduated in 1986 and has worked in New Zealand, Vanuatu, Papua New
Guinea and the Solomon Islands on a wide range of assignments. Garry's
most specialized expertise is in forestry inventory and the operational
planning of silvicultural and harvesting operations as well as the
training of local people to assist and undertake this work.
Garry is familiar with stand modeling and forest modeling, inventory
techniques (including MARVL pre-harvest inventory) and forest valuation.
He has also worked as a silvicultural supervisor and contractor and is
thoroughly familiar with radiata pine silvicultural practices in New
Zealand.

| P.F. Olsen & Co Ltd, the largest
independent provider of forestry management and consulting services in
New Zealand, has been engaged to oversee silvicultural tending on a
local basis.

| Rex Barker, Gisborne Operations Manager
for PF Olsen & Co, has 22 years in the forest industry and is
responsible for the front line supervision of contractors, quality
control and mark-ups within the Trustwood estate.
